In March of this year experimental dance music artist plygid released the album 'Sensory Shell', a slippery mixture of drum & bass, idm and ambient pitched as the long lost soundtrack to an immersive audio-visual space from the year 3000. After spending the summer diving deeper into the Brooklyn club scene, the artist has returned with 'SSH: Remixes', a collection of dancefloor-oriented reimaginings of the tracks off 'Sensory Shell'.

'SSH: Remixes' features 11 remixes, 3 by plygid and 8 others by underground dance artists from across the US. Collaborators were approached with an eye towards highlighting queer, trans and POC identifying artists and were encouraged to pursue any direction they wished with their remixes, be it adding vocals, combining multiple tracks into one, or christening their compositions with new names. The end result has the organic feel of a communally-curated mixtape, something borne more out of frenzied inspiration than meticulous forethought. But that doesn't mean the project lacks cohesion, the 'Sensory Shell' source material can be felt in even the most warped of remixes and holds things together like glue.

All proceeds from the album are being donated to Brooklyn mutual aid group Bushwick Ayuda Mutua, LGBTQIA+ music collective Grimalkin Records and Palestinian aid organization Anera.
